1 - What’s the Purpose of having Sitebar in AstroTips.com?

Both providing a tool useful for your own private needs and - above all - building a public technically cutting edge categorized directory of useful Astronomy related pages.

2 - What is Sitebar?

SiteBar is a solution for people who use multiple browsers or computers and want to have their bookmarks available from anywhere without need to synchronize them or take them along. The bookmarks are stored on a server and displayable/modifiable in almost any standards compliant browser.

SiteBar allows you both to keeping links private while giving you possibility to also grant access to your bookmarks to everyone and cooperate in building a public directory of Astronomy related webpages.

Using RSS feeds you may monitor what additions have been added to certain SiteBar folders or to the whole SiteBar installation.

3 - A few of the advantages of Sitebar

  • Since the bookmarks are stored on a server you can access them from anywhere.
  • You can manage your bookmarks and import and export them across most any browser and operating system.
  • Unlike «ordinary» link directories, SiteBar fully integrates on a browser.
  • Using RSS feeds you are always kept updated about what’s new and be aware of other people’s «findings».
  • The interface is translated in many languages.

4 - How can you start using it?

Start by visiting the Sitebar page >>:

1 – Sign up for an account
2 – Use the Open Integrator option from the menu to put Sitebar on the browser you are using
3 – Read the Help to get a better idea of the features offered an how to use them.
