The most important additions in this release is the new feature, that allows you to Drag & Drop any graphical or tabular output to other application that support OLE-Automation, like MS-Word, MS-Excel etc...
Minor Changes
-
New Splash with alpha blending
added
-
Icons for the "Design Manager", "Lens
Calculator" and "Design Wizard" in the Toolbar (speedbar)
-
Multiple "PDF Report"
-
Multiple "PDF Viewer"
-
"Look" from Graphical and Text windows -
available from the local window menu
-
2D, 3D-Optical Layout - supported drawing of
automatic, fixed and pickup heights (see surface editor "solve
heights")
-
3D-Optical Layout - stops
are drawing as circles
-
Cassegrain baffling calculation for
Cassegrain like systems added - Cassegrain, Ritchey-Chretien, Dall-Kirkham,
Pressman-Camichel (see the layout bellow). The white slope shows that the
calculation is exact, i.e. the upper edge of front shield, rear shield and
bottom side of the field edge lie on the white slop.
-
Automatically generated design description
that includes design clear aperture and focal ratio.

-
Undo function to the "Edit" menu - if
inserted or deleted surface
-
Undo function to the "Surface Type" popup
menu - if surface type is changed
-
Solve Heights - Automatic, Fixed and Pickup
in conjunction with 2D and 3D optical layout. How it work:
If "Automatic" is selected the heights are calculated by MODAS and all rays
at field edge are transmitted. This is useful for calculation of the heights
for the maximal field of view. If "Fixed" is selected the optical layout use
fixed heights to show the effect of vignetting, i.e. not all rays are
transmitted. Useful for example by exploring cassegrain light shields
(baffles) or central obstruction. If "Pickup" selected, the drawing surface
become his value from selected surface in the "Solve Heights Dialog". Useful
for exploring of Mangin mirrors or Klevtsov telescope etc.
-
Print and PrintPreview of the surface
spreadsheet
-
HTML-Preview of the surface
spreadsheet
Bug Fixes:
-
Schmidt-Camera, Schmidt-Cassegrain - if you
have entered "Corrector Diameter" with ending different 0 or
5, for example 202 mm, by pressing "Report" button MODAS
cannot exit from the loop that calculate the corrector profile
(reported by Grant Christie).
-
Telescope Layout - if uses "Copy to
Clipboard" or "Save Graphic As" functions after executing, the picture is
loss (developer fix).
-
Calculation of Gregorian secondary clear
diameter (reported by M.Gobato)
-
Floating Point error by designs with lenses
(excepted One-, Two- Mirror and Stevick-Paul designs), i.e appear if
currently open some existing design and new design is performed by using
"Easy Telescope Design"
-
Surface Editor - the surface
editor seems to change surfaces randomly - some become aperture stops, their
radius gets set to zero, the material disappears (reported by Bruce
Dickson).
-
Options|Show System Data - Windows error if
closed "System Data Settings" dialog (reported by Grant
Christie)
If you be registered user of MODAS, write me and I will send
you the update. It's a
free!
Freeware users can download latest release from MODAS home
page.
Enjoy the Design!
