  AudeLA
Description: Offers advanced image processing and acquisition functions . Its originality lies in the fact that it is entirely reprogrammable using simple scripts.

Completely configurable : You can write scripts to automate all types of observations and even completely redesign the graphic user interface. The powerful and increasingly widespread scripting language used is TCL/TK, which is easy to learn. Ready-to-use and free scripts are available.

Multi-purpose : AudeLA enables not only camera control, but also full telescope control, locally or at long distance via a network.

Automation : AudeLA is especially conceived to automate the set of tasks necessary for a particular topic of observation. For example, if you want to make a survey of supernovae, AudeLA will be able to manage your telescope and camera without your intervention, will begin the observations at the beginning of night, take care of the pointing and shooting of the chosen galaxies, save the images and will finish off at the end of the night.

Philosophy of Aude and Audine: It controls the Audine camera. But can also control other cameras well (Genesis 16, SBIG-ST7, Hi-SIS11, Hi-SIS22, CookBook-245, Starlight-MX5, webcams, and Kitty-237) and several mountings (all protocols LX200 (Meade, Sky Sensor 2000, etc), AudeCom and Ouranos).

This is the Linux version. A Windows ersion is also available.

  Celestia
Description: Celestia is a free real-time space simulation that lets you experience our universe in three dimensions. Unlike most planetarium software, Celestia doesn't confine you to the surface of the Earth. You can travel throughout the solar system, to any of over 100,000 stars, or even beyond the galaxy. All travel in Celestia is seamless; the exponential zoom feature lets you explore space across a huge range of scales, from galaxy clusters down to spacecraft only a few meters across. A 'point-and-goto' interface makes it simple to navigate through the universe to the object you want to visit.

This is the Linux version. Add-ons, Mac OS X, FreeBSD and Windows versions are also available.

  Galaxy Collisions Simulation
Description: This is a simple program designed to graphically portray how disk galaxies can transform themselves through collisions. The two disks are set up with up to 3000 test 'particles' in Keplerian orbits around two centrally-dominated masses -- approximately at the sophistication of the landmark Toomre and Toomre papers of the 1970's.

The goal of the program is to facilitate curiousity and tinkering, as well as providing an impressive real-time movie of the galactic interactions.

Famous twisted galaxies like M51 and NGC 4038/9 can be nicely modeled using this program. Matter bridges, tidal tails, and ring galaxies can all be neatly demonstrated in real time.

An «old timer», dating back to 1997.

The title links to the Linux X86 installation file. Solaris and Windows versions are also available.
