  DSO  Popular
Description: DSO is a freeware astronomical program that should help to plan observations of deep sky objects. The program allows to search for objects in the NGC database by the object
  • minimum dimension
  • availability (i.e. its altitude at the particular time and location should be above some minimum)
  • type (galaxy, globular cluster, nebula etc.)
  • visibility (log(C0/C)) in particular telescope according to the visibility concept developed by Jose Torres or maximum magnitude
You could also limit search to Messier, Caldwell or Hershell 400 objects

Features:

  • performs search of NGC objects to be observed
  • export the resulting list to Memo for further use by Planetarium
  • calculates visibility for any object and graph the result

      RA Clock utility
Description: RA Clock is a PalmOS application to assist the use of the Right Ascension (RA) setting circle mainly on equatorial mounts (e.g. EQ2) without a clock drive.

The RA Clock application maintains an internal sideral clock to eliminate the need of frequent re-calibration of the RA setting circle during an observing session. After an initial alignment, given the RA coordinate of an object in the sky the RA Clock application computes and automatically updates the RA coordinate that the setting circle on the mount should read so that the telescope points to the object.

The title above links to the English version installation file. You can get the Portuguese version here.

Requisites: any device with PalmOS version 2.0 or superior (tested only with PalmOS 3.5).
