It is a "Universal binary" running natively on PowerPC and Intel Macintosh, under MacOSX 10.4 or 10.5.
• It gives the eclipse circumstances, distance and direction to the central line.
• It supports the connection to a NMEA compatible GPS receiver, to input location and time.
• It starts actions (apple scripts, shell scripts or applications) at prescripted times during the eclipse. For signaling the proximity of eclipse contacts, controlling a camera, controlling a live broadcast or whatever you may imagine. | | | Version: | 0.1 | | Filesize: | 575.42 Kb | | Added on: | 06-Mar-2008 | | Downloads: | 159 | | Category: | Mac OS/X & (Open)Darwin | | Homepage | Rate resource | Details

AstroGrav (Mac) | | Description: | Software that allows you to study how astronomical objects move and interact under the force of gravity. It features interactive 3D graphics which allow you to move around within an astronomical system that you are viewing, while watching how it evolves with the passage of time.
A wide variety of sample files are provided, including Solar System, space mission, and abstract systems, and these enable you to experiment with AstroGrav without having to go to the trouble of entering your own data. The comprehensive editing facilities allow you to either create your own astronomical systems, or to modify existing ones, and provide you with an almost endless scope for experimentation and investigation.
AstroGrav can be used to visualize and understand the following aspects of gravitational and astronomical systems:

Sun Spotter (Mac) | | Description: | Sun Spotter is a simple tool for grabbing the latest white-light image of the Sun, taken from the SOHO web site. The image corresponds to the sort of view you would see using a telescope equipped with a standard solar filter. Some brief notes are included to explain what it is you're looking at. Intended for amateur astronomers and teachers/students interested in the Sun. | | | Version: | 1 | | Filesize: | 878.91 Kb | | Added on: | 03-Jan-2006 | | Downloads: | 410 | | Rating: | 10.0 (1 Vote) | | Category: | Mac OS/X & (Open)Darwin | | Homepage | Rate resource | Details | Comments (1)

Keith's Image Stacker | | Description: | Keith's Image Stacker is an image processing program that is oriented primarily toward astrophotography.
What it provides, more than anything else, is a workspace in which to align many similar images (say from a quicktime movie of Jupiter taken through a telescope with a webcam) and then to produce a stack of the images, which consists of a single image that comprises either the sum, or the average, or some value in between of the individually stacked images. Stacking images is a well-established method for increasing the signal-to-noise ratio in a series of similar images. True "information" will shine through the stack, while random noise will drop out.
Note: MacOS required, carbon, meaning OS X or any reasonably recent OS 9 or 8).
