PEAS stands for «Periodic Error Analyzing Software», its purpose is to evaluate, judge and analyze the periodic errors of equatorial mounts.
It allows one to know if the quality of a mount is good enough for traditional emulsion photography, CCD or image acquisition with a webcam; also to know where does the error lay making it impossible for a mount to perform a good track.
Version beta 3 of PEAS offers namely the possibility of:
calculating the effective resolution [arcsec/pixel] of the camera once the capture software generates the periodic error in pixels (IRIS, AutoGuider, AstroSnap and K3CCD are supported);
calculating the correction in declination (DEC) of the test star;
inputting the duration of the period of rotation (RA) of the tangent gear.
AstroArt and MaxIm are not yet supported as capture software (the authors would nonetheless appreciate your help changing that).
