DeepskyLog is an open source PHP/MySQL application that lets you keep track of your deepsky observations.
DeepskyLog can log deepsky observations of multiple observers, sharing observations between them. Therefore, it's ideally suited for amateur astronomy clubs who want to have an overview of all the active observers in their community.
DeepskyLog allows you to add different telescopes and locations. You can easily add comments, observing conditions or a drawing to your observation too.
Logging observations has never been as easy with the convenient user interface.
You can plug-in whatever list of deepsky objects to suit your own needs, or simply use Saguaro's extensive Deepsky Database and you have more than 10,000 objects at your fingertips. And if that isn't enough, you can easily add your favourite elusive objects.
With the built in queries on objects, you can make your own deepsky observing lists too!
The new version (2.0) features numerous enhancements and bugfixes. The most important enhancements are:
- The possibility to search for observations
- The possibility to download pdf files of objects and observations
- The 'club' concept : It is now possible to set up a central database and a
central deepskylog site, where the site of different 'clubs' can link to.
This makes it possible to see only the observations of your club members,
even if the observations are stored in a central database.
- Link to DeepSkyLive (http://users.telenet.be/deepskylive/) finder charts for each object.
System requirements: Apache - 2.0 or higher; PHP - 4.3 or higher (also compatible with PHP 5) and MySQL - 3.2 or higher.
