A useful program which lists the celestial objects from the NGC 2000, IC and Messier catalogues visible from a given location at a given moment. The results can be filtered by defining parameters such as the magnitude range they must fall into, the dimension, the minimum altitude above the horizon and the direction in azimuthal coordinates (by defining a «horizon window», from x to y degrees, including also an option to list objects visible within 30 degrees from the Zenith) they must appear. The search can be performed either by all objects from a chosen catalogue or for the observing conditions of a particular one, by number or common name.
The program computes the data of the object positions using algorithms programmed by the author. For the calculation of the true obliquity of the ecliptic and of the nutation effect the periodical elements from the «1980 IAU Theory of Nutation» are used. The equatorial coordinates of the objects are those from the J2000.0 and were obtained from the NGC 2000.0 (Sky Publishing, ed. Sinnott 1988). The apparent coordinates at time of observation are calculated taking into account the precession effect and corrections in R.A and Dec. due to nutation and annual aberration valid for the coordinates based on the FK5 system. The annual parallax effect is not taken into account since the distance of the objects to the solar system is too large.
The results can be salved to a .txt file. Includes extensive help files, namely to understand the descriptive data from the catalogues.
