  SigmaReject Plug-in for MaxImDL
Description: This plug-in for MaxImDL 3.07 or later provides a different method for combining multiple images.

Features of this plug-in:
. Works directly on images in MaxImDL... no back-and-forth between multiple programs.
. Rejection threshold automatically defaults to an appropriate value based on the number of images being combined (less than 0.1dB loss in SNR).
. Option to create a "difference" image showing the rejected pixels (cool!).
. Written in C++... it's fast!
. Key FITS header information is carried over to the combined image.

SBIG Camera Control/Image Processing Software (Windows)
Description: SBIG offers several software packages supporting its various cameras on the PC, Macintosh and Windows platforms. The software titles are arranged on this page (click the title link above) according to operating system. These packages have image acquisition and image processing functions:

* CCDOps version 5.xx for Windows supports all of SBIG's serial, parallel and USB based cameras (except ST-4 and STV). It also reads and processes STV images. We strongly recommend you start imaging with CCDOps before switching to another imaging package.

* Software Bisque's CCDSoft version 5.xx is Windows software for SBIG serial, parallel and USB based cameras (except STV). It integrates with Software Bisque's other software packages like TheSky™ and Orchestrate.

* STVREMOTE for Windows upports the STV. * <bCCDSHARP for Windows is specialized Lucy-Richardson image processing software for all cameras except the ST-4.

* ImCap for Windows supports the ST-4 imaging functions. ImCap is a freeware package made available with permission of the author.

These files (except ImCap) are the latest production release of the SBIG Camera Control and Image Processing Software. They read and display SBIG native image formats. These are full working copies and can be used for evaluation or to upgrade your existing software if you are using a previous version with an SBIG camera.

  DSLR Timer
Description:

DSLR Timer is a DSLR interval timer using the parallel port or serial port of your notepad or PC.
It can control series of long exposures of digital cameras as it is needed for astrophotography. You need a special cable to connect the camera's jack for the cable remote control to the computer. A description of such a cable can be found on my homepage.

DSLR-Timer offers the following functions:

  • Single shot (Start - Stop). Mainly for testing the correct setup before starting an intervall series.
  • Intervall timer. This is the main feature of this program
  • Exposure time from 1 second to 1 hour per image
  • DSLR Timer can consider the time for mirror lock-up, noise reduction and the time which is needed to save the images.
  • Pause-Function to interrupt and continue a series of shots.
  • Display of the total remaining time for the complete series, including the time for exposure, mirror lock-up, noise reduction and save.
  • Display of the time of day, when the series will be finished. So you can easily go for a coffee and come back in time.
  • Camera control via parallel port. You can use LPT1 to LPT3 or any port address. This is very important for the usage of PCMCIA cardbus cards..
  • You can specify, which PIN of the parallel port is used to control the camera. Only the one bit which corresponds to this PIN will be changed. The other PINs can be used by other programs. So you can control a webcam with long exposure via the same parallel port at the same time

  QCV2 and DarkGen
Description: QCV2 is used to capture images off of a QC Grayscale camera. Documentation may be found at QCUIAG.

DarkGen is used to process images captured with QCV2. Although there is nothing peculiar about the image format (BMP) there is most definitely something peculiar about what is in them. Noise. Lots of noise. DarkGen knows how to handle that noise. It has about everything one needs to get from original frames to a stacked image (even DDP). It does not have the "normal" image processing functionality, and so must be augmented by your favorite graphics program to do things like unsharp masking, gamma, brightness, and contrast.

Calibration Groups for MaxIm DL 3
Description: With CalGroups software, you can create a calibration group with bias/flat/dark frames, and save it by name. You can recall the group any time you need it, make changes to it, etc. Use the links at left to navigate through the complete documentation for this program.

You can also use CalGroups for batch processing, either with or without calibration. Nearly all MaxIm DL processing features are available for batch processing. If you have bad pixels or columns, you can automatically clean them up in every image at one time. If you need to sharpen or smooth a bunch of images, you can do them all at once. If you want to do something more complex, such as calibrate a folder of images, remove hot pixels in each image, align and combine the images, and then apply DDP -- the Calibration Groups program will manage the entire process from beginning to end.

  SAOImage DS9 (Windows)
Description: SAOImage DS9 is an astronomical imaging and data visualization application. DS9 supports FITS images and binary tables, multiple frame buffers, region manipulation, and many scale algorithms and colormaps. It provides for easy communication with external analysis tasks and is highly configurable and extensible.

DS9 is a stand-alone application. It requires no installation or support files. Versions of DS9 currently exist for Sun Solaris, Sun Solaris64, Linux, LinuxPPC, Windows NT/2000/XP, and MacOSX (darwin). All versions and platforms support a consistent set of GUI and functional capabilities.

DS9 supports advanced features such as multiple frame buffers, mosaic images, tiling, blinking, geometric markers, colormap manipulation, scaling, arbitrary zoom, rotation, pan, and a variety of coordinate systems. DS9 also supports FTP and HTTP access.

The GUI for DS9 is user configurable. GUI elements such as the coordinate display, panner, magnifier, horizontal and vertical graphs, button bar, and colorbar can be configured via menus or the command line.

DS9 is a Tk/Tcl application which utilizes the SAOTk widget set. It also incorporates the X Public Access (XPA) mechanism to allow external processes to access and control its data, GUI functions, and algorithms.

  Automapper II
Description: Automapper works with TheSky, CCDSoft, and TPoint to automate the process of mapping points. “Mapping points” refers to the process of moving the telescope around the sky and measuring how far off your pointing is. TPoint uses this information to build a model of your telescope’s pointing errors. TPoint and TheSky then work together to correct for pointing errors.
