SkyTools V2.0
Ever find yourself observing without a plan or a focus? You wander around the sky without knowing what is visible. The objects you tend to observe are easy favorites and you never explore anything new. The session lacks the thrill of discovery. On the other hand, have you ever observed with a plan and a goal? When you plan before hand and develop a list of objects to observe you discover that the observing session has more meaning. You observe objects you have never seen before. The whole evening is much more productive and rewarding when you have a goal. Wouldn?t it be great if there was a software program that generated an observing plan for a night based on any criteria that fits you and then prints star hop charts for your target objects? Not only that but lets you log objects and keeps track of what you have observed or not. There is such a program and it is called SkyTools. Let?s examine the features of this revolutionary program.
SkyTools can be considered the jack of all trades astronomy program. It filters and sorts based on many criteria among several million stars and over a million deep sky objects to develop evening observing list and long term observing list. It even has many built in and downloadable observing list such as Messier, AL Binocular Deep Sky objects and the Herschel 400 to name a few. It has events planning that predicts when many solar system events will occur such as occultations, appulses and meteor showers to name a few. SkyTools boast full featured charting and planetarium features. It also has the most complete and feature rich logging tool for your observations.

I have loads of astronomy related software and for my money this is the best all around viewing/planning/logging program available. As someone else wrote, "It looks good and feels good...". Actually, it looks and feels GREAT! The interface is simple and uncluttered, the star charting functions are as good as some charting only software, and the list of other functions is as complete as one could ask. I would recommend SkyTools 2 to anyone.
